In this role, you'll:

 

Oversee and perform recovery, provide on-road repairs and incident management services for the provision of bus service and other transport modes. You will also coordinate the recovery and incident management maintenance and provide technical support to first responders to ensure timely and efficient completion of tasks.

 

The Fleet Operations Leading Hand will also be responsible for:

 

  • Working cooperatively with the TMC Field Operations management team to implement changes and deliver projects as required to meet the needs of the business.

 

  • Carrying out repairs to buses and any other maintenance activity as required and conducting functional checks to ensure components are operational and vehicles are fit for service. Being responsible for fault diagnosis, testing, fault finding and quality assurance of maintenance work completed.

 

  • Cooperating and maintaining communications, with the Transport Management Centre (TMC), and internal customers (including Operations) concerning, incident response services, and related maintenance activities.

 

This is an ongoing full-time role located at Leichhardt.

 

This role is required to work rotational shifts, including AM/PM and weekends.

About you

 

You are a qualified and experienced tradesperson with a successfully completed and appropriate trade certificate or other relevant qualifications.

 

You have highly developed diagnostic (technical) skills and an understanding of the transport industry including its regulatory and operational standards and requirements.

 

You take pride in your ability to effectively communicate with other workers and members of public and are dedicated to maintaining a safe work environment.

 

You hold a current Australian Heavy Rigid (Class HR) or Heavy Combination (Class HC) Licence.

 

You also hold Traffic Controller tickets – ‘Implement Traffic Control Plan’ and ‘Prepare Work Zone’ and possess a current First Aid Certificate and a current Construction Industry White Card.

 

You hold or are able to obtain a Motor Vehicle Repair Industry Authority (MVRIA) certification for CNG powered vehicles.

 

Any previous towing or mechanical experience with heavy vehicles will be highly regarded.

 

You’re prepared to work outside regular working hours and attend after hour callouts.
