In this role, you'll:


Join the high performing Model Development Team on a fixed-term basis till end of June 2026 with a posibility for extension.

 

Drive the evolution of transport and freight models that inform strategic planning and decision making across TfNSW.

 

Lead the design, refinement, and enhancement of modelling tools to ensure they are adaptable, data-driven, and future-focused.

 

Provide technical direction and guidance to the team, fostering innovation and best practice in model development.

 

Collaborate with stakeholders to align priorities and ensure modelling outputs are transparent, accurate, and fit for purpose.

 

Keep ahead of global and local trends to shape the next generation of forecasting capability.

 

Communicate complex insights in a clear and practical way to support evidence-based strategies and policy.

About you


Strong background in transport and traffic planning, with a solid grasp of contemporary policy issues and their implications for modelling and forecasting.

 

Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and enhancing large-scale strategic transport and freight models.

 

Advanced proficiency in key modelling tools and programming, particularly EMME and Python, with the ability to integrate data science methods where relevant.

 

Proven ability to translate complex modelling outputs into clear insights that support evidence-based planning and decision making.

 

Track record of engaging with diverse stakeholders, balancing technical depth with clear communication and collaborative problem-solving.

 

Forward-looking mindset, keeping pace with emerging modelling practices and global innovations to continuously improve capability.
