In this role, you'll:
Support projects in delivering assets that are safe and fit for purpose, through the application of Systems and Safety Assurance processes. These roles are technical in nature, and you will act as an internal consultant, developing effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support programs and projects in the development and delivery of solutions that are safe to operate and maintain.
Due to the scale and ambition of Transport for NSW’s Future Transport strategy, we’re offering exciting entry-level opportunities within the Infrastructure and Place Technical Services team.
This is a developmental role where you’ll gain hands-on experience working alongside senior engineers and project teams to learn and apply systems safety practices throughout the lifecycle of complex infrastructure projects.

About you
You will have relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, systems safety, systems and safety assurance, systems integration and / or relevant industry experience.
Ideally, you will have some experience in the rail or road transportation sector. You will bring a keen interest in systems safety, systems engineering and/or technical assurance, and a desire to build your expertise in a structured, supportive environment. Experience in applying these principles in other safety- and mission-critical sectors, such as defence, aerospace or medical devices, would also be highly regarded.
You’re a good communicator, proactive learner and team player who is excited about contributing to projects that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Key Systems Assurance activities you will support include:
-Supporting projects in demonstrating compliance with relevant systems and safety assurance processes, engineering standards and technical and user requirements during all phases of the project.
-Contributing to reviews of project documentation such as risk assessments, design artefacts, and assurance reports
-Performing systems assurance reviews for compliance with systems and safety engineering requirements and demonstrating that the end product is safe, with support from senior team members.
-Reviewing safety assurance reports, risk assessments and systems engineering reports and providing recommendations for improvement.
-Ensuring that risk assessments, risk controls and verification of implementation of risk controls are documented and managed by the project throughout the project lifecycle in collaboration with senior team members.
-Contributing best practice data and information in order to continuously improve the Systems Assurance function.
-Building positive relationships with stakeholders to achieve project goals and delivery Configuration Management outcomes.
