In this role, you'll:
Supervise and provide leadership to team members, facilitate team processes and team development to meet agreed work plans and project specifications for complex or large-scale road projects.
The Team Leader Grade 2 may also be required to supervise minor contracts associated with the team’s activities. This position works under limited supervision and with a high degree of autonomy.
The Team Leader Grade 2 will also be responsible for:
• Providing supervision, guidance and direction to team members, accepting responsibility for work carried out individually and by others, to develop capability and achieve work goals.
• Resolving routine problems that arise during the course of work referring to standard guidelines and manuals when required and suggesting solutions to complex problems to ensure risks are minimised and work goals are achieved.
• Providing advice through on-the-job training and team meetings, on relevant processes and procedures as well opportunities to improve work activities to support understanding and develop team performance.
• Applying interpersonal skills to resolve conflicts and model collegiate and collaborative behaviours to achieve the greater good for the community, celebrate a diverse workforce, create an environment where people can create and thrive, and support people’s wellbeing.
• Implementing, communicating and monitoring WHS procedures for identifying hazards, assessing and controlling risks, and record management, providing training and guidance, to ensure understanding and minimise risk.
This is an ongoing full-time role located at Orange in our Central West Construction Team.
Working a 9-day fortnight and supporting our construction crews, you will help deliver a wide scope of capital works such as road rehabilitation, road widening and maintenance programs.
You may be required to work outside of normal working hours and you may also be required to travel throughout the region and work at locations away from home on occasion.
TfNSW take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be eligible for this role it is a requirement that you must reside within a reasonable distance from the Orange Depot so that you can start and finish work at this location each day.

About you
You have demonstrated experience in road maintenance and construction along with knowledge and experience coordinating and supervising multi-disciplinary site teams.
You have experience delivering project requirements safely and efficiently and have experience certifying the work of team members and contractors to achieve work outcomes.
You possess good communication and interpersonal skills and are able to communicate effectively with both colleagues and members of public.
You have the capability to follow appropriate safe working procedures and rectify simple hazards.
You hold a current Construction Industry White Card and a current unrestricted NSW Motor Vehicle driver’s licence.
Experience operating as a Road Worker Grade 3 or related labouring experience in a civil construction environment, and sound experience using internal reporting systems will be required.
A Medium Rigid (MR) or Heavy Rigid (HR) Driver’s Licence would be viewed favourably.
