In this role, you'll:

 

Work with our Vehicle Identity & Inspections Unit team to conduct inspections on vehicles located across the state, at private & commercial premises, on road and at TfNSW sites to verify the identity and compliance of vehicles with various standards, rules and bulletins to confirm roadworthiness and/or criminal misconduct.

 

You will travel to various sites across the Sydney metropolitan and regional NSW to inspect vehicles, analyse records, documentation and applications making informed decisions to ensure compliance through education and your legislative powers as an authorised officer.

 

The head office for this position is located at Parramatta, however you may be required to be work out of any one of the Transport for NSW facilities including Botany, Silverwater or Penrith. State-wide travel is required.

About you

 

You are enthusiastic about vehicle safety and keeping our road users and communities safe, you may be an experienced motor mechanic, an automotive trade qualified professional looking to build on your experience, have a passion or knowledge for motor vehicles or you may have worked in a regulatory environment in a similar organisation.

You have a sound understanding of NSW and Commonwealth legislation relating to vehicles, you may have experience in examining/inspecting vehicles, and have the ability to research, interpret and apply legislation.

 

This is frontline and a face to face role. You have strong report writing and written communication skills and are comfortable speaking with a wide variety of people including police, government officials, authorised examiners, vehicle owners, drivers and members of the public often in challenging, potentially conflicted situations.
