In this role, you'll:
Be responsible for developing and delivering road or traffic infrastructure and/or maintenance projects in order to achieve road safety, asset management and network efficiency objectives.
The Project Engineer Level 1-2 role will be responsible for:
• Managing project and delivery process including the delivery of direct control and contract works to ensure nominated road or traffic infrastructure and/or maintenance projects are delivered to agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirements.
• Applying effective project management to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
• Preparing cost estimates, procure and overseeing service providers, monitoring and reviewing ongoing work programs for time, cost and quality to make effective use of resources and deliver agreed objectives.
• Preparing contract documents for road works projects, including technical specifications to engage, administer and deliver contract works and ensure efficient project delivery.
• Implementing appropriate procedures, guidelines, processes and practices, in collaboration with TfNSW specialists, to deliver a high level of workplace health and safety, environmental management, quality and traffic management and people management on projects and contracts.
This is an ongoing full-time role located at either Port Macquarie or Coffs Harbour.
This position involves project delivery, site work and travel across the Mid North Coast Region and at times you will be required to work away from home in order to deliver remote projects.
The Project Engineer Level 1-2 role is suitable for entry level graduate engineers and also for more experienced engineers. The pay scale for this role will be negotiated with the successful applicant according to their skills and work experience.
We take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 70km from your identified Headquarters/depot.
Transport has flexible working arrangements in place, however as this is a delivery focused role responsible for leading teams and involves site works, hybrid working or working from home is not available.

About you
To be considered for this role you will have tertiary qualifications in civil engineering and have experience in the design, construction, inspection and/or maintenance of pavement, road and/or earthworks infrastructure.
You have experience in the preparation of competitive and accurate estimates, job programs, project delivery briefs and WH&S management plans, quality, environmental, and traffic management plans for assigned projects.
You have experience in managing a direct control workforce to successfully undertake construction and maintenance projects.
You have project management skills and knowledge of computer-based tools and techniques for project and information management.
You will be a proactive analytical thinker and possess high level communication skills. The ability to astutely manage time and work collaboratively and closely with stakeholders to deliver is paramount, as is your dedicated commitment to safety and quality.
You possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver licence and willingness to work outside normal working hours and travel on occasion.
