In this role, you'll:

 

Join the NSW Point to Point Transport Commission to support the Commissioner in achieving our strategic safety priorities, service our industry by authorising service providers, administering taxi licences and the passenger service levy, and managing compliance and enforcement.

 

The way we travel is changing. We aim to prioritise the safety of everyone using or providing point to point transport in NSW. We do this by educating, informing, building capacity and inspiring confidence across the industry. In NSW, point to point transport is any passenger service in a vehicle (other than a bus) that can take customers on the route they choose, at a time that suits them, for a fare. This includes taxis, limousines, rideshare services, airport transfers and other hire vehicles. Across NSW there are over 2,000 authorised service providers providing passenger services. More than 80 million point to point transport trips are taken each year.

 

Reporting to the Commissioner and supported by a team of 120 professionals, you will lead and direct the management of program delivery and services within the NSW Point to Point Transport Commission. In addition, you will work closely with the point to point industry to ensure the provision of safe services and compliance with the relevant legislation that regulates the industry.

 

Notably, following the Commission’s growth and with offices in both metropolitan and regional NSW, you will have the opportunity to utilise your people leadership and mentoring skills across a geographically dispersed workforce.

 

This is a full-time Ongoing (Perm) Transport Senior Service TSSE2A level role, offering an attractive remuneration package.

Some of your accountabilities will be to:

 

  • Provide guidance, information and advice to the Commissioner, government agencies and industry groups on point to point transport regulation and industry reform.
  • Provide strategic leadership and guidance to the NSW Point to Point Transport Commission’s leadership team to enable optimal operational and service delivery and ensure alignment with overall goals and targets.
  • Oversee the delivery of the Commission’s commitments and goals as outlined in the Point to Point Commission Strategic Directions by driving delivery of education, audit, compliance and enforcement services ensuring industry is complying with their safety obligations and requirements of the act.
  • Innovate and deliver, under tight timeframes, ways of working and appropriate systems, policies and processes to ensure effective delivery of the regulatory framework for point to point transport services.
  • Lead the investigation and identification of opportunities for continuous changes and enhancements in delivery of programs and services, and development of additional services, to achieve continuous improvement in outcomes for customers and stakeholders.

 


About you 

 

  • You probably have a background working across safety and/ or compliance, within a legislative framework from a regulated industry.
  • Adaptable in nature and leading by example, you have the demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team of multi-disciplinary specialists, facilitate their ongoing professional development, and maximise their performance to deliver diverse and complex operational services.
  • You have significant experience working at a senior or executive level in a complex organisation delivering specialist and authoritative advice to executive leadership.
  • You are an experienced working collaboratively and in partnership with the public and private transport sectors and across government in a complex organisational, operating and asset and services management environment.
  • You have strong stakeholder management skills with experience in leading a function within a high reliability / high risk working environment, a large and complex industrial and/or public sector organisation.
  • As a good problem solver, with progressive and forward-thinking attitude, you have the ability to work in a matrix-style reporting environment where it is essential to have a good understanding of customer orientation and the operational demands that come with service delivery.

The NSW Point to Point Transport Commissioner is an independent statutory office, supported by a team of Transport staff (the Commission) led by the ED. The Commissioner is the industry regulator for all point to point transport, including taxis, rideshare providers and hire vehicles across the state. We do this by educating, informing, building capacity and inspiring confidence across the industry.
