Assistant Geotechnical Engineer

In this role, you'll:
Work within our Network Maintenance Team at Sydney Trains, you will take responsibility for conducting geotechnical investigations / inspections and prepare advice in relation to geotechnical issues facing Sydney Trains and clients, to ensure the safety and reliability of rail operations are maintained.
You will assist in the preparation and evaluation of track investigation field work, lab testing and reporting, geotechnical work coordination, and contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the relevant systems infrastructure to ensure design requirements are met.
The role is responsible for assisting geotechnical staff in the provision of advice and services to internal and external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality, timely and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
About you
You will assist in the development and produce relevant engineering designs and associated documentation to meet business requirements and Sydney Trains Quality Control procedures.
You may also assist with field inspections and investigation of problem sites and reporting on the geotechnical hazards in relation to the conditions.
You will assist in the provision of advice on foundations for track, bridges and buildings, unstable cuttings, embankments and formations, and material suitability, including the different techniques and precautions applicable for the project.
This role will see you contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the geotechnical infrastructure database, and comply with skills and competency audit requirements and undertake role-based Skills and Competency evaluation and assessment
