Bus Fleet Manager (Up to 11 Months Temporary Opportunity)
Sydney, NSW, AU, 2020
You see the big picture, you’ve always worked on a grand scale, and now you’re ready to re-focus on grand impact.
You're looking to contribute client side where you work more sustainable hours and take ownership of projects from beginning to end. You love the challenge of delivering a project that affects millions of people to quality, budget and schedule.
In this role, you'll:
Join a newly forming team that’s helping shape the future of NSW’s public transport network with a focus on buses.
You’ll play a key role in managing and coordinating projects that support the ongoing operation, maintenance, and improvement of a fleet of over 12,000 contracted buses across the state.
You’ll work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and contracted operators to ensure fleet-related projects like warranty repairs, upgrades, and service improvements are delivered smoothly and on time. This includes:
• Monitoring and recording progress on fleet repair programs
• Coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers through the approved bus panel
• Supporting governance meetings and ensuring actions and requirements are tracked and followed up
• Keeping accurate, audit-ready records and ensuring information is up to date and accessible
• Working with schedulers and project teams to ensure work is programmed and aligned with operational needs
• Supporting the transition to zero-emission buses by working with the ZEB team on fleet integration and ongoing management
• Visiting factories, depots, and supplier sites as needed to oversee progress and build strong working relationships
This is a hands-on, detail-driven role where your ability to keep things moving, manage multiple stakeholders, and maintain excellent records will be key to success.
About you
You’re someone who understands how fleets operate whether that’s from working in a bus company, depot, or another transport or logistics environment like trucks or taxis. You’re confident talking about fleet performance, maintenance, and logistics with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
• Experience in fleet or asset management, ideally in a transport or logistics setting
• Strong project management skills, able to manage timelines, track progress, and keep stakeholders aligned
• A good understanding of bus operations, depot environments, and how maintenance and repairs are managed
• Confidence working with spreadsheets, schedules, and reporting tools to keep accurate records and support decision-making
• Experience working with external suppliers or contractors, ideally in a panel or contract-based environment
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset, you’re the kind of person who sees a problem and gets stuck in to fix it
