You have the opportunity to lead Mechanical & Electrical technical guidance and support State Government’s target for infrastructure development by providing advice during the development of further stages on the Project.

 

 

In this role, you'll:

 

Join this once-in-a-lifetime Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) project that will connect the Warringah Freeway at North Sydney to WestConnex (Rozelle Interchange) via twin tunnels, each with three lanes and approximately 6.5 kilometres long under Sydney Harbour. The majority of the project will be deep underground in tunnels, greatly reducing surface impacts to private property, communities and the environment.

 

Reporting to Delivery Director and as part of the senior management team, you will lead Mechanical & Electrical technical guidance for the successful delivery of WHT project by providing senior management, professional and technical leadership in developing the design and construction packages to ensure that works are delivered safely and successfully.

 

You will be responsible for driving best practice technical and project management principles throughout the project, ensuring that a project management framework is applied consistently and aligns with delivery timeframes, costs and quality requirements. You will direct and consult on the production of detailed analysis, work schedules, reporting and other documentation throughout the project, including project team, contractors, Subject Matter Experts, and other key stakeholders, to ensure project integration and that designs and plans appropriately manage risk and technical challenges.

 

You will manage specialised and multidisciplinary teams of tunnel specialists who can design and deliver tunnel systems in complex environments utilising experience across multiple disciplines, including drainage, fire systems, operational control systems, sustainability, structures, M&E engineering.

 

This is a full-time fixed term opportunity until the end of 2028, Transport Senior Service TSSE1B level role, offering an attractive remuneration package.

About you 

 

You are a tertiary qualified, seasoned in major projects, Mechanical & Electrical engineering professional looking for an opportunity to engage on a world class tunnelling project:

 

  • Experience gained in the construction, general transport, military or any other safety critical environment with a strong commercial acumen.
  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast paced environment with multiple and competing demands.
  • You will have demonstrated executive leadership experience building and leading diverse teams.
  • You are an influencer.
  • You have led, guided and mentored teams with expertise in industrial electrical equipment and associated electrical and electronics controls, PLC, HV switching and intelligent transport systems and associated infrastructure.
  • You will have demonstrated technical ability in delivering major, high profile projects of $1bn+.
  • Ensure that all required environmental impact statements and assessments are undertaken to ensure that projects meet all statutory requirements and deliver sustainable outcomes.
  • Build effective relationships and partnerships to ensure stakeholders expectations are met and lead the development and implementation of strategies to ensure community engagement and to provide project transparency with an opportunity for feedback.
  • You will bring experience managing competing and complex demands to ensure timely delivery of projects considering quality, cost efficiencies and timeframes and assessing variations while resolving conflicts and priorities.
  • You champion a customer-centric ethos and understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions.
  • You have the ability to articulate complex concepts and put forward compelling arguments and rationales to all levels and types of audiences.
  • You bring experience identifying and overcoming barriers to collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • You bring strong experience creating a culture of achievement, fostering on-time and on-budget quality outcomes.
