Play a pivotal part in shaping how Aboriginal perspectives, voices, and aspirations are embedded into the fabric of Transport’s strategy, operations, and service delivery.

In this role, you’ll:
- Lead strategic reforms and influence across Transport and Government working toward long-term positive change for Aboriginal communities and embed Aboriginal priorities in decision-making at every level.
- Provide culturally strategic advice to executive leadership and government stakeholders, aligning Transport’s work with Closing the Gap, Reconciliation Action Plans, and broader Aboriginal affairs priorities.
- Build relationships and develop formal partnerships to achieve shared decision making with Aboriginal communities, Elders, and organisations to ensure their voices shape decision-making and are reflected in meaningful, measurable initiatives.
- Support Transport to achieve Aboriginal outcomes across projects, services and technology delivery, to strengthen and improve the health of Community and Country and support Aboriginal economic independence.
- Advocate Aboriginal passenger and community needs to drive more equitable, inclusive and culturally responsive services.
- Drive Aboriginal participation by enhancing procurement activities with Aboriginal-owned businesses and creating sustainable employment pathways across the Transport for NSW.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team in a culturally sensitive environment, cultivating a workplace culture of respect, inclusion, and accountability that delivers lasting impact for Aboriginal communities and Transport for NSW.

Our Strategy Insights and Customer Experience branch delivers meaningful, long-term transport outcomes for customers, passengers, and communities - across all modes, locations, and life stages. We are seeking an inspiring executive leader to champion the voice of the customer and drive strategic transformation across Transport.
As Director, Aboriginal Outcomes, you will bring deep cultural knowledge and strategic foresight to lead cross-agency collaboration and align teams with Transport for NSW’s strategic objectives.
You’ll draw on your strong networks and community connections to build understanding and awareness of Aboriginal priorities, while navigating diverse stakeholder perspectives to shape well-rounded, culturally informed policy. Your ability to deliver timely, high-quality advice (often within tight deadlines), will be key to meeting ministerial and organisational expectations.
Partnering closely with the executive leadership team of TfNSW, you will ensure the successful delivery of Aboriginal initiatives, policy commitments, and Closing the Gap priorities, or similar programs within a government or large organisational context.
You are an experienced leader of Aboriginal teams, skilled in empowering professionals to influence decision-makers and drive meaningful, lasting outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities in complex and culturally sensitive environments.
This is an identified position. Credibility with the Aboriginal community, a sound understanding of Aboriginal cultures, and insight into the issues affecting Aboriginal people are essential.
