Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is undertaking a bold Procurement Transformation Program — establishing a centre-led Procurement branch within our Finance, Technology & Commercial Division.

 


This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of procurement at TfNSW. As we embed a new operating model, you’ll play a key leadership role in driving reform and innovation across all procurement functions at one of the largest procuring agencies in the country.

 


As Director, Procurement Assurance & Compliance, you will lead a team through this transformation — building a culture of compliance, procurement excellence, continuous improvement, risk awareness, and sustainability. You will ensure TfNSW’s procurement operations meet the highest standards while supporting ethical and strategic procurement outcomes.

In this role you’ll:

 

  • Lead the transformation of procurement assurance and compliance processes TfNSW, identifying gaps and designing fit-for-purpose processes.
  • Establish and embed robust procurement assurance frameworks, with ongoing monitoring and reporting across all divisions to mitigate procurement risks.
  • Promote ethical standards in procurement, including measures to address modern slavery, fraud, corruption prevention, Indigenous procurement, and ESG performance
  • Represent TfNSW in forums and committees, providing leadership and oversight for governance-related initiatives.
  • Build, grow, and lead a team of procurement professionals — striking a balance between regulatory compliance and the delivery of efficient, agile, and user-friendly procurement processes.
  • Develop and oversee an assurance testing program to monitor compliance, performance, and risk management across the full procurement lifecycle

About You


As a strategic executive leader, you have deep expertise in governance frameworks, compliance and risk management best practices. 


You possess proven experience in leading the development and implementation of governance frameworks, risk assessment, and risk mitigation strategies within a large, complex organisation


Your stakeholder management skills enable you to drive collaboration, influence decision-making, and promote a culture of procurement excellence, risk awareness, and sustainability. 


With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to continuous improvement, you will leverage data and insights to identify gaps, enhance compliance, and deliver robust assurance frameworks that protect the organisation from procurement-related risks. 


Your expertise in executive-level reporting and stakeholder engagement will be pivotal in transforming TfNSW's procurement operations to the highest standards of governance and sustainability.


Experience in public sector or highly regulated environments will be highly regarded, along with a strong commitment to delivering public value, transparency, and meaningful reform.
