Lead Operational Excellence and Drive Process Improvement in a Major Procurement Transformation at Transport for NSW

Transport for NSW is delivering a bold and exciting Procurement Transformation Program — establishing a dedicated, standalone Procurement branch within our Finance, Technology & Commercial Division.

This is your opportunity to shape the future of procurement operations in one of Australia’s largest and most dynamic public sector organisations. As Director Procurement Operations, you will play a pivotal role in embedding best-practice processes, improving service delivery, and driving operational efficiency across our sourcing functions.

You’ll lead the development and execution of a streamlined, compliant, and digitally enabled procurement operations framework — delivering greater value, faster turnaround times, and a more responsive experience for stakeholders across the organisation.

In this role you’ll:

  • Oversee procurement operations and lead the execution of the procurement strategy and roadmap, managing operational sourcing services across all Transport Divisions (excluding Major Construction).
  • Shape and influence sourcing delivery with senior stakeholders to enhance service levels, drive efficiencies, and improve compliance.
Champion a culture of continuous improvement by embedding Lean principles and process improvement methodologies to remove inefficiencies, reduce cycle times, and simplify workflows.
  • Design and implement scalable, standardised sourcing practices aligned with NSW legislative and policy requirements.
  • Oversee operational sourcing across a broad range of categories and ad-hoc business needs, ensuring fast, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Leverage automation and digital tools to streamline low-value, low-risk procurement processes — improving speed, accuracy, and user experience.
  • Develop and maintain robust standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and accountability across all procurement activities.
  • Promote and support the use of self-service sourcing capabilities, enabling business users to confidently manage routine procurement tasks.

This is an ongoing Transport Senior Service Executive (1B) role. Please see the role description and Information Pack for more information
