In this role, you'll:

Join as the Director Services and Metropolitan Network within the Rail System Planning team. This dynamic team has a statewide remit for leading rail planning across NSW. In this pivotal role, you will craft strategies, drive development, support investment decisions, and optimize service planning for today's network. This is an extraordinary opportunity to make a significant impact on public transport in NSW.

You will be accountable for initiating, leading and directing the development of future network plans and service planning activities to ensure the rail network meets the future needs of passengers and freight customers across NSW.By fostering strong partnerships with the Sydney and Regional Integration teams, you will ensure the effective implementation of rail plans to meet the needs of the community’s needs now and in the future.

Some of your areas of focus in the role will be:

•Leading and managing rail service planning for metropolitan, freight, and regional networks, collaborating with operators to deliver exceptional customer and network outcomes that align with overarching strategies and priorities.


•Acting as the pivotal link between stakeholders to confirm business needs and requirements are communicated and delivered effectively


•Providing leadership, guidance, and management in relation to the development and delivery of programs, proposals, business strategies, frameworks, guidelines and operating concepts aligned to rail service planning.


•Utilising and analysing data to provide expert advice to identify opportunities to inform rail service planning across all phases of the delivery model


•Leading the development of network optimisation strategies that support reliability, capacity growth, and integration with other transport modes to enhance customer experience.


•Driving the adoption of innovative technologies and data-driven insights to improve rail network efficiency, sustainability, and responsiveness to future transport demands

About you

•You are a strategic thinker and outcomes focused


•You have a proven track record of managing executive-level stakeholders, articulating complex concepts, presenting compelling arguments to diverse audiences, and establishing and maintaining collaborative and successful relationships.


•You are analytical with an appreciation of analysis and modelling activities undertaken to support evidence-based decision making


•You understand and have experience in business planning for areas such as future networks and strategic land use issues


•You bring strong experience in developing roadmaps for future state of large, complex organisations


•You have strong experience building a team and growing team maturity and capability.


•You have demonstrated experience in change management and engagement.


•You possess a deep understanding of the political and industrial implications associated with transport planning.


•You will understand the balance of addressing customer requirements whilst adhering to other regulatory, policy, government and operational conditions.
