In this role, you'll:
Lead the delivery of critical regulatory programs that keep NSW’s vehicle and bus networks safe and reliable. You will take ownership of the State’s vehicle-related regulation, including the integrity of vehicle inspection, registration and operator functions across NSW, driving improved compliance and roadworthiness for millions of vehicles and thousands of operators. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement in safety standards, enforcement activities, and regulatory frameworks.

You’ll provide trusted, expert advice on vehicle specifications and emerging technologies, partnering closely with colleagues and stakeholders to develop regulations that anticipate the future of transport. You’ll champion initiatives that enhance inspection services, regulatory compliance, and customer outcomes, while managing operational excellence in vehicle registration and bus regulation.

Your responsibilities will include:


• Leading compliance and accreditation programs for third-party inspection services and ensuring vehicle registration processes uphold rigorous safety and legislative standards.
• Providing expert technical guidance on vehicle regulations and addressing complex enquiries from stakeholders and customers.
• Collaborating with policy and safety teams to shape forward-looking frameworks for emerging technologies such as automated and alternative fuel vehicles.
• Driving improvements in bus regulation in line with broader transport transformation projects.
• Overseeing strategic projects, managing budgets and risks, and ensuring high standards of performance and reporting.

About you
You’re a highly experienced regulatory leader with a strong background in vehicle or transport safety regulation. You combine strategic vision with operational expertise, managing complex programs and leading diverse teams with confidence and clarity. Your extensive project and change management skills have enabled you to successfully implement new systems and processes that improve service delivery and operational efficiency.

You bring thorough knowledge of statutory and regulatory frameworks underpinning vehicle and bus regulation, applying this expertise to maintain service quality, compliance, and safety standards. Your technical knowledge of vehicle standards and emerging technologies enables you to guide regulatory frameworks that are both innovative and practical.

You excel at building relationships across government and industry, particularly with large, decentralised operator networks, inspiring your teams, and using data-driven insights to inform decisions. With a commitment to safety, service quality, and continuous improvement, you bring a collaborative and solutions-focused approach to leadership.
