In this role, you'll:
Join our Health and Safety Technical team as a Rail Safety Manager and play a critical role in developing and implementing tailored rail safety standards for Sydney Metro's expanding network, including Metro West, Western Sydney Airport, and Southwest Metro.
Reporting to the Senior Rail Safety Manager, you'll provide expert technical advice, drive continuous improvement of safety management systems, and govern compliance with rail safety requirements.
You will lead a proactive safety culture that prioritises workforce and community wellbeing. You will implement strategic initiatives to proactively manage and mitigating rail safety risks. In this role you will embed systems that ensure compliance with rail safety legislation and standards. You will collaborate with stakeholders and authorities to achieve strategic objectives. You will drive improvement safety performance and support project delivery.
This is a fixed-term role for 24 months, requiring attendance at the Sydney Metro office. Flexible work arrangements may be available following agreement with the Director Health and Safety Technical.

About you

A proven ability to navigate complex safety challenges in major infrastructure projects.
An ability to build confidence and influence stakeholders at all levels.
A strong commitment to safety and the ability to foster a proactive safety culture.
Extensive expertise in rail safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Specifically, you will possess:
Tertiary Health and Safety or engineering qualifications, or equivalent experience that demonstrates your extensive capabilities.
Extensive experience in the rail industry or related rail infrastructure construction, ideally within NSW.
