In this role, you'll:
be working as part of a brand-new team to establish a Bus Regulatory Transformation Program.
Led by the Regulatory Transformation branch, the Operational Policy Advisor will be responsible for developing, reviewing and analysing operational procedures, standards and guidelines relating to vehicle safety in alignment with delivery of recommendations assigned by the Bus Taskforce.
The Operational Policy Advisor will evaluate issues, assess operational requirements and make sound recommendations concerning policy and procedures that reflect Public Sector Guidelines.
By collaborating with colleagues across SPER (Safety, Policy, Environment and Policy), Operational stakeholders at Transport, and the industry, you will play a pivotal role in being a part of a program of works that supports large scale regulatory transformation.

About you
Your relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in working with legislation and developing regulatory policy will see you succeed in this role.
You are someone who is familiar with heavy vehicle operations in the transport engineering space.
You will also have strong writing skills and highly developed communication skills as collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is key to the role.
You will be a ‘people person’ who is skilled at articulating technical language to multiple stakeholders, internal and external working groups and committees who are at varied organisational levels.
You understand the political nature and sensitivities of program management and delivery and are well-versed in managing expectations and knowing when to flag risks that need escalating.
You will be able to multi-task and prioritise your work to deliver with competing deadlines and can operate autonomously.
You are someone who can demonstrate accountability, decision making and leadership.
