Shape the voice of Transport for NSW during critical moments and major events.

 

 

In this role you'll:

 

  • Lead and inspire a dynamic media team to develop and execute high-impact public affairs strategies and campaigns that protect and enhance Transport for NSW’s reputation.
  • Build and maintain influential relationships with senior executives, ministerial offices, and government stakeholders to ensure best-practice media services across the transport portfolio.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling media content for all channels, proactively managing complex issues and identifying opportunities for announcements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Provide strategic media advice and support for the executive team, including media monitoring, preparing engagement materials, and managing issues and enquiries during major events, with availability for out-of-hours response.
  • Mentor, develop and empower an inclusive, high-performing team, driving capability uplift while managing competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Travel to multiple offices across NSW if and when required, and provide out of hours and rostered on-call support as part of the senior leadership team

About you


You are an experienced media leader with a strong background in public relations, journalism, or strategic communications. 


You bring deep knowledge of media practices, outstanding stakeholder engagement skills and thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Skilled at managing complex issues and tight deadlines, you balance professionalism with creativity to deliver compelling stories and responses.


Flexible and committed, you’re prepared to work outside core hours, including early morning commitments to manage media announcements, and provide on-call support during critical incidents. 


You hold tertiary qualifications in journalism, public relations, or a related field, and excel at building relationships, influencing outcomes, and leading high-performing teams. Your leadership inspires trust, innovation, and the highest ethical standards.
