Senior Policy Officer (Temporary Opportunity up to 19 Months Temporary Opportunity)

In this role, you'll:
- Support strategic policy and regulatory reform work for passenger transport (rail, bus, and ferry), point to point transport (taxis and hire vehicles including rideshare vehicles), and e-micromobility shared schemes.
- Conduct jurisdictional research and analysis to identify and evaluate policy options.
- Support the drafting of regulations and legislative change through discussion papers, briefs, and submissions.
- Coordinate stakeholder feedback and developing evidence-based policy positions via desktop reviews.
- Build and maintain cross-sector relationships to facilitate collaborative policy development with Transport divisions including Safety, Policy, Environment and Regulation (SPER), Passenger, Integration and Passenger (PIP) and the Coordinator General, as well as with other NSW Government agencies.
The role leads and supports several projects in partnership with the Mobility Policy Leads on the team.

About you
You have a strong background in developing and implementing policy reforms, ideally within the transport sector, ensuring they align with legislative requirements and government priorities. You’ll be used to work with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government, industry, and the community coordinating engagement efforts to gather insights and drive meaningful policy initiatives.
You understand policy development and regulatory reform and have a sound knowledge of the machinery of government and legislative frameworks. You are a capable communicator who can provide advice to a variety of stakeholders, and you are able to work autonomously and determine day to day priorities.
You’re keen to contribute and add value and be part of a collaborative team. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and have a track record of shaping effective regulatory frameworks, we’d be keen to hear from you.
This team is currently enjoying a hybrid way of working in line with the base office located at 231 Elizabeth St Sydney and is evolving in line with Transport's policies for workplace presence.
