In this role, you'll:

• Focus on scalable, repeatable and extensible software solution designs and architectures.

• Shape, design, and develop innovative solution architectures for SCATS to deliver the technical vision aligned with product strategy and business outcomes.

• Modernise, standardise, and optimise solution designs to enhance security, performance, agility, and cost-effectiveness across SCATS products.

• Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including product managers, product owners, and technical leads to ensure alignment between strategy, requirements, and solution architecture.

• Review product strategies and proposed solutions for technical feasibility, operability, security, deployability, and efficiency.

• Translate business strategies and product requirements into clear, actionable solution architectures to enable continuous improvement and success of SCATS offerings.

• Create and maintain comprehensive architecture documents, models, policies, standards, and guardrails to ensure consistent quality and compliance.

• Present and recommend architectural options to inform and support commercial and product decision-making.

• Provide expert consultation and guidance to product development teams on solution architecture and technical best practices.

• Advocate for and enforce architectural governance, raising teams' awareness and compliance with policies and cyber security standards.

• Liaise with development teams to represent system architecture interests and ensure alignment with broader system and security frameworks.

About you

• Demonstrated experience in the design, delivery, and documentation of successful solution architectures within complex technical environments.

• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

• Proven ability to manage competing priorities while balancing day-to-day operational needs with broader project delivery requirements.

• High-level initiative combined with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address technical and strategic challenges.

• Experience in one or more of the following areas:

o Traffic engineering and traffic signal systems

o Widely distributed systems and operational technology integration

o Cloud and hybrid architectures and Software as a Service (SaaS) models

o High availability system design and cyber security (including identity and access management)

o API design and data architecture,

o Low-latency, near real-time systems

o Software and hardware interface and messaging systems and design.
